Overview

The University of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Health Science Center San Antonio and signed a Memorandum of Agreement in 2023 with the goals of collaborating on research and quality improvement projects, faculty and professional development, student cross-cultural and clinical learning experiences. 

Specific activities thus far included:

1. UT Health faculty initial visit in May 2023. Guest lecture for medical school students.
2. In October of 2023, Ambo University faculty joined UT Health Zoom faculty development series on best practices in Interprofessional Education (IPE).
3. Ambo University, Waliso Campus School of Nursing joined the quarterly Global Health Hub, led by UT Health, which includes Schools of Nursing from all over the world.
4. In October and December 2025, 16 Ambo University faculty participated in a 3-part Zoom series presented by experts at UT Health on 
   1. Grant writing
   2. Designing Research Studies
   3. and Budget Design for Studies

Ambo University began in 1947 as an agricultural institute. However, since 2009, the university has experienced exponential growth to where it now includes 4 campuses, serving more than 18,000 students.  With their shared commitments to delivering high‑quality patient care, advancing impactful community‑focused healthcare research, and educating the next generation of health professionals, Ambo University and Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ are well positioned to build a thriving and mutually beneficial partnership.
